Turkey
INTRODUCTION
Mining company needed to install valves on a mountainside pipeline that contained toxic materials.
PROBLEM
Here are some of the requirements of the job:
- Pressure was unknown but max could peak at 2 Bar (29 PSI)
- Toxic Material could not be exposed to air
- 6 hours max the pipeline could be shut down
- Millions per day in revenue lost if system entirely shut down
- Pipeline material HDPE
SOLUTION
Working with the mining company, Petersen engineers proposed using 18" PeteStop® Inflatable Line Stops. The lighter weight equipment, smaller tap hole and larger pipe surface contact of an inflatable plug ensured a positive seal while saving time and money.
RESULT
Contractors were able to have a positive isolation of the pipeline to install the valve with plenty of time to spare. Everyone was pleased with the result.
