The Petersen PeteStop® 128-Series Line Stop is our first line stop system. It has the smallest tap hole of any of the PeteStop® Line Stop Plugs.

How does 128 Series Inflatable Line Stops Work?

PeteStop® 128-Series allows you to block flow in a pressurized pipeline without shutting down the system. This quick, non-intrusive method saves time, labor, and reduces environmental risk.

Step-by-step process

  1. Drill a small taphole - The live pipeline creates a small tap hole, the smallest among PeteStop® systems.
  2. Insert the inflatable plug - The deflated plug is guided through the tap hole with lightweight insertion tools.
  3. Inflate to seal - Inside the pipe, the plug expands and forms a tight seal against the inner wall, stopping flow.
  4. Complete maintenance or repair - With the flow stopped, personnel can safely access downstream areas for repair, inspection, or maintenance.
  5. Deflate And Remove - After the procedure is completed, the plug is deflated and removed through the same tap hole.
  6. Close the Tap Hole - A completion plug closes the gap, restoring the pipe to service.

Because it operates in a pressurized atmosphere, there is no need to depressurize or drain the pipeline, making the 128-Series suitable for emergency repairs or operations where downtime is not tolerated.
