When to Use Rubber Pipe Plugs

Petersen Products’ molded rubber inflatable test plugs are designed to test drain, vent, and waste systems for residential, commercial, and industrial piping systems. Our lineup easily fits test tees, closet bends, sanitary tees, floor drains, and roof vents.

Our single size and multi-size rubber plugs are one of the most popular pipe plugs for low pressure testing. The drain pipe plugs are available with and without bypass.

Let’s take a closer look at a few of the products in the Petersen Molded Rubber Inflatable Test Plugs 130 to 139 Series.

130-1 Series, Stack Test Style Rubber Test Plugs, Sizes: 1.5" to 6"

Stack Test Plugs
Designed for stack testing of drain, waste, and vent plumbing systems, 130-1 Stack Test Style Rubber Test plugs thread into a standard test tee. The bladder is inflated, then water is in-troduced into the pipe. When the test is completed, deflate the test tee plug bladder, then water travels down the pipe, eliminating test water backsplash. It has high impact ABS threads for maximum durability and the natural rubber body provides a leak free seal.

130-0 Series, Plumber Style Rubber Test Plugs, Sizes: 0.75" to 96"

Plumber Style Rubber Test Plugs
These plumber test plugs are ideal for installation and repair of residential or commercial piping systems. Muni-Ball® Rubber Test Plugs are designed with 1/2" Schrader Tire inflation valve and larger diameter Muni-Ball® Plugs, including a removable threaded valve, allowing the user to replace with quick disconnect fittings (not included). Inflation is through a ¼” npt removable Schrader tire valve, and larger diameter plugs also have a ½” npt connection that’s blocked. M suffix for plumbing applications are equipped with an oversize ring and a 12" chain. The MS suffix for sewer applications have an eye bolt for plug installation and re-moval.

137 Series, Rubber Test Plugs, with and without By-Pass, Sizes: 1.50" to 60"

137 Series, Rubber Test Plugs, with and without by-pass
Smaller diameter plugs can be used in all types of pipelines. Since these plugs are not rein-forced with cord, they exhibit excellent stretching and sealing characteristics in pipe diame-ters from 20 mm (0.8″) up to 305 mm (12″).

130-2 Series, Municipal Style Muni-Ball® By-Pass Plugs, Sizes: 1.5" to 96"

130-2, Municipal tyle Muni-Ball® By-Pass Plugs, Sizes: 1.5" to 96"
These round pipe plugs provide for testing and/or monitoring piping systems. They are ideal for installation and repair of residential or commercial piping systems. Inflation for smaller diameter plugs is Shrader type tire valve, and larger diameter plugs inflate through a ¼” npt tire valve allowing replacement with quick disconnect fittings. These flexible Muni Ball by-pass test plugs are bendable to 90 degrees.

130-7 Series, Remote Placement Plugs, Sizes: 5.5" to 18.25"

130-7 Series, Remote Placement Plugs
Eliminate the need to enter confined spaces and speed up the pipe plugging process in a safer and less expensive way than conventional plugging methods with the 130-7 series. It fea-tures a multi-size design to seal multiple pipe sizes. It can be locked at a 90 degree plug angle to seal openings in manholes at different levels and can be used as a back plug for sewer tests. Adapters are available to convert Municipal Style Muni-Ball® plugs into Remote Placement Plugs.
